Tips for removing oil stains from clothes

Oil stains when stuck to clothes cause difficulties for many people. If not removed, the stain will stick to other clothes. Laundry World suggests some tips to remove slime stains on clothes

1. Remove oil stains with detergent and hot water

This is a highly effective method used by many people. This method helps the oil stains disappear immediately. However, soaking clothes in hot water will cause the clothes to easily fade. Therefore, to prevent clothes from fading, you should only use this method with clothes made of thick and heat-resistant fabric.

Preparation: You need to prepare washing powder, hot water, cold water (to mix with hot water), brush.

Doing:

You mix hot water with cold water when you have warm water (from 40 to 50 degrees Celsius) then dilute the washing powder into the water.
Next, soak the oil-stained clothes for about 10 minutes.
Do a gentle rubbing step, if the stain is difficult to remove, you can use a brush to scrub.
Rinse clothes with normal cold water.

2. Remove oil stains with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide

Another method you can do is to use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. This method is not only effective on oil stains but also on many other stubborn stains on clothes.

Preparation: Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, cold water, a little dishwashing liquid, brush.

Doing:

Spray hydrogen peroxide directly onto the oil stain on the clothes.
Put a little dishwashing liquid on the stain that was just sprayed with hydrogen peroxide.
Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda on the dirty area.
Then use a small brush to scrub the oil stains.
Finally, soak the clothes in this mixture for about 45 – 60 minutes and then wash as usual.

3. Remove oil stains with gasoline

When using gasoline to remove oil, it will help remove oil stains quickly. However, you need to consider using this method because your clothes will have a very unpleasant gasoline smell and may fade.

Preparation: Gasoline, washing powder, cold water.

Doing:

Wet your clothes, then dab gasoline on the oil-stained area (be careful not to dab the gasoline to other surrounding areas).
Then, wait for a few minutes and then wash again as usual with detergent

4. Remove oil stains with dishwashing liquid

Dishwashing liquid has ingredients that help remove the layer of lubricants on clothes from the fabric surface very effectively.

Preparation: Dishwashing liquid, warm water.

Doing:

Soak the clothes in a basin of warm water for about 2 – 3 minutes.
Put a little dishwashing liquid on the oil stain and rub vigorously to gradually erase it.
Once the stain is removed, rinse the garment and hang it to dry.

5. Remove oil stains with nail polish remover

Nail polish remover contains alcohol, which helps remove oil stains from clothes quickly.

Preparation: Nail polish remover, towel, brush, laundry detergent

Doing:

Use a clean towel to line the area where your clothes are stained with oil.
Pour a little nail polish remover directly onto the oil stain.
Use a small brush to scrub the surface and you will see the oil stains gradually peel off.
Next, wash the clothes again with detergent and dry them.

Note: The above methods are most effective on new oil stains on clothes. If they stick for a long time, they will not be effective and will be difficult to remove.
